The Baldwin County School District will be launching a redistricting effort to establish new attendance zones for our four elementary schools in order to balance enrollment. The Redistricting will affect all elementary schools and will involve more than current students. In addition, as part of our new charter status, the Baldwin County School District is exploring possible grade level configurations for the 2017-2018 school year.
Four community forums will be scheduled to give stakeholders the opportunity to review draft proposals and share their insights into various geographical areas within the district. The dates for the community forums are as follows:
December 6 - 8:00 am at Creekside Elementary and 5:30 p.m. at Eagle Ridge Elementary
December 8 - 8:00 am at Blandy Elementary and 5:30 p.m. Midway Elementary
Parents, employees and community members will also be able to provide feedback via an online survey. The School Board plans to approve the redistricting plan at the February Board Meeting.
The Baldwin County School District will use an inclusive redistricting process that allows the school system to gather input from employees, parents, and community members on the proposed revisions to the attendance zones and grade-level configurations. The redistricting process begins with the development of proposed maps that use a set of school system criteria. These criteria include looking at current enrollment, enrollment forecasts, enrollment histories, existing identifiable boundaries, school locations, and student transportation.
